Herdsmen Attacked Benue, Kill 2 Women Injured 5
Some herdsmen, armed with sophisticated weapons, at the weekend, attacked and killed two women, injured five others at Yelewata in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The repraisal attack came barely two weeks after the herdsmen attacked Tse -Tarkende at Mbadwem Council ward of the local government and killed a pregnant woman with her husband.
The herders were said to have made incursion into the area for a reprisal attack after youths in the area had resisted earlier attack on a man who was on his farm.
Witnesses said that the killing sent jitters down the spines of residents who are now fleeing the community in droves.
Chairman of Guma Local Government Area Mr. Anthony Shawon, confirmed the incident saying two women were brutally killed in the attack.
Shawon disclosed that the herdsmen had attacked a resident of the area on his farm and inflicted serious matchete injuries on him, pointing out that youths in the area who were nearby in an effort to rescue the man also injured some herdsmen.
He contended that the herdsmen, however, mobilised and returned on Saturday with deadly weapons, but most of the men ran away leaving behind the two women who were unfortunately shot dead.
