The Nigerian military has arrested 28 people who have been leaking secret operational tactics to the Boko Haram/ ISWAP terrorists.

Intelligence sources reported that the 28 suspects, are local nationals and foreign nationals, and are presently under investigation.

This development followed the attacks made this week by the Boko Haram/ ISWAP terrorists on the military post in Diffa, Niger Republic, a border area with Nigeria.

News agency-  obtained video of the said attack also reflected what was shown in the Islamic State’s ‘Amaq News Agency.

The video revealed their fighters storming a post of the Army of Niger Republic in Diffa and allegedly capturing war spoils afterwards.

The video of 2 minutes and 5 seconds was broadcast on the 4th of May, 2020, hours after the terrorists issued a report on the incident in official IS communique,on the, where they claimed that their “fighters” killed 5 Niger Republic soldiers and wounded others when they attacked the military post on the 3rd of May.

Some scenes from the video footage showed where the Jihadists entered the military post on foot and in vehicles, taking weapons and ammunition.

But the information gotten by Uniquemedia from intelligence source revealed that the military base was virtually empty before the terrorists’ arrival as the troops were out on counter-insurgency operations around the Lake Chad axis.

According to the intelligence sources, it was also revealed that few soldiers who were on ground retreated because of the large number of terrorists.

The source stated that the military intelligence so far has arrested 28 notorious informants who were guilty of leaking troop movements to terrorists, and that the suspects are currently under interrogation and have provided useful information which could lead to a major crackdown on local supporters and collaborators in that axis.

UniqeMedia gathered that the Chadian troops have stopped to participate in regional Counter-Terrorism joint military operation, which is under the Multi-National Joint Task Force.

This showed that they kept to their decision when Chadian President, Idris Deby, at the end of the Chadian offensive against Boko Haram in April, warned that his troops would no longer partake in military operations outside the Chadian borders.

The offensive was launched after about 100 Chadian troops were killed during a terrorist attack on a base at Bohoma in March this year.

With the Chadian troops’ seeming withdrawal, the activities of insurgents are unabated in the Lake Chad region and the Sahel.

The Nigerian and Nigerien troops have however continued to sustain aerial attacks and ground operations against BOKO HARAM and ISWAP Terrorists.
